The equipment report was captured on September 8, 2026, but did not independently verify its precise patch label or cross-check tarkov.dev because that API was unavailable. Patch-specific validation and current prices are unverified as of Patch 1.1.5.0.
- Flesh damage, penetration power and armor-damage percentage describe different outcomes. A higher-damage round is not necessarily a better armor-piercing round.
- Penetration depends on ammunition penetration, armor class and the armor’s remaining durability percentage. A table value is not a guaranteed kill or penetration probability.
- The research describes a 0%–40% flesh-damage reduction after armor penetration, depending on the interaction.
- The research states that each armor hit removes at least 1 durability, including an individual shotgun pellet.
- The 0–6 effectiveness scale is a contextual ammunition-versus-armor rating. It is not the ammunition penetration number or the armor class.
The effectiveness scale
| Rating | Meaning | Approximate hits to penetration | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | Pointless | 20+ | No practical penetration within a reasonable number of hits. |
| 1 | Barely effective | 13–20 | Many hits are required and penetration remains unreliable. |
| 2 | Magdump only | 9–13 | Almost no initial penetration chance. |
| 3 | Slightly effective | 5–9 | Low penetration chance and gradual armor wear. |
| 4 | Effective | 3–5 | Low-to-moderate initial chance, improving quickly as armor wears. |
| 5 | Very effective | 1–3 | High penetration chance, often increasing past 90% quickly. |
| 6 | Essentially ignores armor | <1 | Initial penetration chance above 80%; this is a source rating rather than a guaranteed one-shot kill. |
